| With
new advances in technology exponentially increasing
daily, there is a strong need for information to be
simple, clear and easily understood. To
comprehend the complexities of Ozone, Ozone
Worldwide has produced a small database containing
information pertinent to ozone. |

What is Ozone?
|
|
Ozone is enriched oxygen and is nature’s own powerful purifier.
It is an oxidant which occurs
naturally in the upper atmosphere and is simply 3 oxygen molecules. The Ozone layer is essential for life on
earth and protects us against dangerous ultra violet rays. Ozone is also formed during lightning
storms, at ocean beaches and waterfalls as evident by the clean, fresh smell. It has been widely used in medical
applications for almost 100 years. In
recent times technological advances have made it a cost effective form of air
purification.
Ozone has 5 key benefits:
-
Oxidization of
nuisance odors:
tobacco smoke, food odors, body odors, urine, pet odors, chemical odors,
etc
-
Control of airborne
micro-particulates:
dust, smoke, lint, fibers etc.
-
Sterilization of micro-organisms:
bacteria, viruses, fungus, moulds, mildew, algae, germs, etc.
-
Slower spoilage rates/increased
shelf life:
fruits, meats, vegetables, fish, cut flowers, etc.
-
Faster growth rates:
plants, flowers, poultry, pigs, etc. by providing a cleaner healthier
environment.
The air we breathe is made up of two joined
oxygen atoms (O2).
If we take three O2 molecules and
combine them so that there are two units with three oxygen atoms each, we now
have ozone (O3).
These ozone molecules travel through the air. When they encounter a pollutant
one oxygen atom will break away and attach itself to the pollutant thereby oxidizing
it. All that’s left behind is the safe, pure, breathable oxygen necessary to
life.
Ozone deodorizes by a process of oxidation, permanently converting odor into water
vapor and other safe compounds. Ozone
is itself used up during the oxidation process.
Ozone also destroys a large variety of micro-organisms by breaking down
their protein structure, without damaging macro- organisms (humans, plants,
animals, etc.) due to our complex protein structure.
Only very small quantities of ozone are necessary to achieve a
high level of deodorization or disinfection, making it a safe and viable
alternative to traditional chemical methods. Importantly, it leaves no chemical residue as unused ozone rapidly
decomposes back into oxygen.
Can ozone oxidize household microorganisms while still remaining
safe? Yes! Because plants, animals and humans are macro-organisms,
meaning larger organisms, we are not effected like the microorganisms by the levels of
ozone found in Ozone WorldWide's generators. There is a level to ozone, like any
other compound, that will cause irritation, but this level is very difficult to achieve,
and impossible with Ozone WorldWide's generators.

Why Ozone?
Ozone is nature’s powerful purifier, and one of
the most beneficial substances on the planet. It is constantly around us,
purifying our air and water, decomposing bacterial molds and fungi. It is the
sweet smell after a lightning storm, the fresh smell of laundry dried outdoors in
the country, and the revitalizing freshness of air found near crashing waves and
waterfalls. Because ozone is a bluish gas, all you have to do is look up to see a
thin layer of ozone, evidence of it’s constant protection against harmful UV
rays.
"It has been proven extensively that ozone
(O3) will kill bacteria, viruses, fungi and molds by
attaching to them and oxidizing and eliminating them."
Without ozone's protective and cleansing power,
we as a planet could not survive. However, as a planet, we have seen a decrease in
enriched oxygen (ozone) due to our disregard for the environment. This increase of
pollutants and decrease of oxygen and ozone in our environment continues to
devastate not only the world’s health, but more importantly, human health.
"Two hundred years ago, ambient air was
estimated to be 38% oxygen and 1% carbon dioxide. Today it is less than 20% oxygen
and 25% carbon dioxide. In urban traffic, oxygen can drop as low as 6%."
Although the downward spiral of the world’s
health has focused our attention on the environment, we subject ourselves to a
pollution far more deadly… indoor air pollution. According to the USEPA, many
pollutants in the typical home or office are at least 2–5 times higher than on
outdoor air. This can be dangerous, considering 85% of our time is spent indoors.
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) has become such a problem that a name has been given to
this degenerative condition – Building Related Illness (BRI). BRI is now
recognized as one of the major health concerns facing the world today.
The only way to protect ourselves from the
harmful effects of pollution is to arm ourselves with knowledge and to protect our
respiratory rights with nature’s own wonderful cleansing tool… OZONE.
Because Ozone (O3) is highly reactive and breaks down to Oxygen (O2) after 20–30 minutes, it must be generated onsite.
Although many myths have risen about the toxicity of ozone, "pure ozone is
not poisonous in any sense of the words as it breaks down in contact with the
mucous membrane and only oxygen remains". Pure Ozone "can be used
anywhere germs, odors and/or toxic contaminants need to be eliminated. Ozone Worldwide has found a way to mimic nature by utilizing pure oxygen
from ambient air to form only pure ozone.
Many have never experienced the rejuvenating
sweetness of truly fresh air the way it was meant to be. Here at Ozone Worldwide,
our lives are dedicated to not only educating the average citizen about human and
world health issues, but to provide a refreshing alternative to the stale,
contaminated air infecting the entire earth today.
